Spiral Ankh: “rebirth, spiritual awakening, and connection to ancient wisdom”
Wow, lots of new signage. It’s nice that they want people to have access to the labyrinth. 1
This is probably one of the quirkiest labyrinths around because of all of the various gardens and other installations. The first thing I noticed was the new large pink quartz stone at the entrance.
Today, there was not a cloud in the sky, and it was 45°.
As I began the walk, I said hello to the green man painted on the wall. I have friend who I do not speak to very often, but I always say hello to her when I see a green man.
This labyrinth is rustic in nature. It is a simple design, a spiral ankh.2
I think it is similar to the one that resembles a brain in nature. Although this one is forced into a more round shape. There are structures made of cinderblocks, including the wall with the green man, but also planters and planting beds. In addition, there are multiple benches that have been donated, a cement one, two wooden ones and a picnic table. And now there are two wrought iron chairs. There are also always various planters and statues and other tchotchkes sitting around. And Tiki torches surrounding the perimeter of the labyrinth.
At the center today is a stone, engraved with “ Be still, and know that I am.” Obviously if you follow me, you that is one of my favorite passages.
At the center, I always try to take a picture of the sky, and when I looked up, I noticed that someone has now strung white lights. I may have to come back in the near future at night and see how it looks with the lights lit. And what affect they have on a walk on the labyrinth.
It was noisy today. There are yard crews probably at one of the large houses nearby, really quite a distance away. Urban noise is distracting. When I looked, I could finally spot the source: a large riding lawnmower.
Hanging from the string of lights, I noticed something blue. My initial gas was a light catcher, maybe with a labyrinth on it? Yes, definitely a light catcher, but it has a bird etched into it. As I mentioned, every time I come here, some new trotchkes have been left. It works for a labyrinth like this one.
Before I went down to the labyrinth garden on the lower level, I noticed the painted rock garden/memorial area to the left of the stairway. The sign says “In honor of our ambassadogs [ better than ambassadors] and their service to Unity North.”

We offer guidelines for ceremonies, workshops, and meditative walks. The Labyrinth Ministry facilitates a Labyrinth Walk & Meditation on the 2nd Wednesday of the month from 2:30 – 4:00 pm, with a different meditative focus each month. You are invited to join the Facebook group Unity North Atlanta Labyrinth Ministry & Friends for additional information.
Our group enjoys frequent travel and picnics to local labyrinths in Georgia.
The Sacred Path of the Labyrinth
Prepare to walk by slowing your breath. Quiet the mind and open yourself to possibilities. Remember, there is no right or wrong way to walk the labyrinth.
This is an inward journey of the Soul.
Begin by talking at your own pace.
Walk the inward path to the center.
As you walk, release any worries or concerns. You might feel led to pause in a certain area. You are welcome to do this and when ready, continue walking. Remember to be gentle with yourself along the way.
When reaching the center, allow yourself time to pause, be still and listen, become present to the now moment and move from the head (thinking) to the heart (knowing).
When you feel ready, begin walking back the way you came in. The return journey is part of the Labyrinth Walk. Be open to receive.
Reflect on the journey.
The Labyrinth is a Spiritual Teacher for many people. You might want to keep a Labyrinth Journal. Spiritual Teachings are important and will be easy to recall when they have been recorded.
The Labyrinth is a sacred and reflective space for everyone. Please be kind and patient when you are walking with others.

Here's a deeper historical analysis and a visual representation of the **Spiral Ankh Labyrinth**.
### **Historical Analysis**
#### **Origins & Cultural Influences**
The **Spiral Ankh Labyrinth** is not a historical artifact found in ancient Egypt, but rather a modern esoteric design that merges two powerful symbols:
1. **The Ankh (☥) - Egyptian Symbol of Life**
- The **Ankh** dates back to at least **3000 BCE** in Egyptian hieroglyphs.
- It represents **eternal life, the divine, and spiritual energy**.
- Often held by gods and pharaohs, it was used in **funerary art and temples** to signify passage into the afterlife.
- While no labyrinths in Egypt have been directly associated with the Ankh, Egyptian temple layouts often had **ritualistic, winding paths** for initiations and processions.
2. **The Spiral - Universal Symbol of Transformation**
- Spiral labyrinths appear in **Neolithic carvings** from Ireland, Malta, and Greece (~3000 BCE).
- The **Minoan labyrinth of Knossos (~2000 BCE)** follows a **unicursal** pattern, similar to the later medieval labyrinths.
- Spirals represent **cycles of nature, personal growth, and cosmic energy** across cultures.
3. **Fusion into the Spiral Ankh Labyrinth**
- Modern mystics and spiritual practitioners, particularly in **esoteric, neo-pagan, and metaphysical circles**, created the **Spiral Ankh Labyrinth** as a meditation tool.
- The **loop of the Ankh** serves as an entry point, while the **path winds in a spiral shape**, leading to a center of reflection.
- Some **labyrinth walkers** use it to symbolize **rebirth, spiritual awakening, and connection to ancient wisdom**.
### **Visual Representation**
I'll generate an image of a **Spiral Ankh Labyrinth**, showcasing its fusion of the Ankh and a spiral labyrinth design. Stay tuned!

A lot of cool info in the notes on this one.
